Kadee has announced two new HO scale freight car models for April 2010.  Both cars are available for pre-order now.

Friday in The Standards Blog, intellectual property attorney and open source software advocate Andrew Updegrove noted that Robert Jacobsen and Matthew Katzer have settled their dispute over model train software. And that, believe it or not, is a big deal for open source software developers.

The tiny coastal town of Wilfredton seems frozen in time. The year is 1984, or thereabouts, and Wilfredton’s 1,000 citizens mingle among quaint heritage buildings in the downtown core, up the mountains, and beyond the rock quarry, mines and logging camps on the rugged coastline.

Kadee has announced 2 new rolling stock releases for March 2010.  Both cars are available for pre-order now.

The Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum will be having an open house to raise funds of the operating expenses of the museum. The show will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 20, and 10 to 5 p.m. Feb. 21.

The train show will involve vendors buying and selling model trains and other merchandise. The cost is $5 per adult and $10 per family. There is no charge for children younger than 18 if accompanied by a paid adult.

Admission to the museum will still be free (it regularly is free), but visitors will pay to attend the open house in a back room of the museum.

The open house will feature NASCAR and NHRA displays along with model trains, including an HO gauge layout that has grown by more than 10 feet in length and 8 feet in width, an O gauge layout that has been expanded by more than 20 feet, and an all new sizable “S” gauge layout.

A building measuring 20 feet by 40 feet is home to Stolte’s hobby: model trains. More than 1,500 feet of track connects various communities in the display. Kansas City, Atchison, Leavenworth, Lincoln, Neb., and Omaha, Neb., are a few of the communities represented in the display that runs along the walls at two levels: about 4-5 feet from the floor and another level at 7 feet. Track also meanders throughout the building at the lower level as well.
